This is one of my faves from you so far. I’m especially interested in the idea of veilkeeping. Very cool read :)

My father had the honor of serving this man as a waiter back in the 80s. My dad immediately fangirled Baldwin, and Baldwin was absolutely a class act about it. He was delighted that my father had read numerous titles of his. At the end, he also tipped well. What a gem of human being.

That is INCREDIBLE, omg. Your dad is so very lucky πŸ˜πŸ–€

Phew that James Baldwin essay you shared is something else: β€œThe crime of which you discover slowly you are guilty is not so much that you are aware, which is bad enough, but that other people see that you are and cannot bear to watch it, because it testifies to the fact that they are not. You’re bearing witness helplessly to something which everybody knows and nobody wants to face.”

Yeah, that essay is CRAZY, lol. Probably one of my favorite things Baldwin ever wroteβ€”just saturated with wisdom and truth. It’s like my compass, I always return to it when I feel overwhelmed.

This article comes at the perfect time, that "blinking check engine light" feeling is so real, much like a stubborn bug that needs fixing.

Yes, that’s a great way of putting it. It’ll always let you know when it’s time to sit down and write again.
